Local Psychologists Unite to Enhance Trauma Support Following School Shooting

Less than a day after the tragic shooting at Silver Rail Elementary on October 15, a collective of local psychologists came together to establish the Bend Resilience Project. This initiative aims to provide better access to specialized trauma support for students, families, and the community affected by the incident.

The project focuses on developing resources and programs that cater to the psychological needs of those impacted by the shooting. Psychologists involved in the project emphasize the importance of addressing trauma early and effectively, as many individuals may struggle with emotional and psychological challenges in the aftermath of such events.

Community workshops, individual counseling sessions, and support groups are among the resources being offered. The Bend Resilience Project seeks to foster a sense of safety and healing within the community, encouraging open conversations about mental health and resilience. As the community begins to heal, these efforts aim to ensure that no one has to face their trauma alone.
